Reichert returns to board of selectmen

NEW PORTLAND — Voters in New Portland elected Andrea Reichert to the board of selectmen. Reichert served on the board in the past but did not seek reelection when her term expired in 2017. Reichert received 40 votes. Also running for the contested seat was Paul Hilenski, who received 18 votes and Lorie Agren, who received five.

With 21 write-in votes, Jesse Campbell was elected to the RSU #74 School Board. Eugene Hutchins received 11 write-in votes, and Kristen Mitchell and Janet White each received one write-in.

Mitchell was re-elected as the Town Clerk with 57 votes cast.

The annual Town Meeting was held Saturday, March 3 and Mitchell said voters passed all warrant articles, including authorizing officials to borrow up to $250,000 for a municipal sand/salt shed facility.
